I've worked in the liberal arts environment for fifteen years, starting out in the traditional IT support realm and transitioning about six years ago to the more focused academic / teaching-and-learning side of the higher education equation. I provide cross-divisional support to the entire campus but my heart and brain prance happiest when serving the technology needs of our Humanities division. (I'm halfway to my MFA in creative nonfiction writing!) I actually just met Nicholas Carr. Our incoming first-year (freshmen) class had to read The Shallows over the summer and he visited campus to give a talk on the book. Though I connected with him more deeply on the page than in-person, I appreciate his research and thought-provoking writing about humanity and technology. Oh, and most importantly, I love heavy metal music! Rock on, metal geeks across the planet!
