I was born in Nashville, but attended graduate school at the University of Virginia, where I received a MFA in poetry writing. I have been teaching at Centre since 2001, and have published two books of poems (Woman Reading to the Sea, W.W. Norton, 2008, and The Hammered Dulcimer, U. State U. Press, 1998). I've received the Rome Prize in literature, The Barnard Women Poets Prize, and the May Swenson Poetry Award. Publications in Poetry, The New Republic, and elsewhere. My commitment to poetry reading and writing, and to creative non-fiction (which I also teach and publish) is intense; however, as I say, above, I could be less of a Luddite when it comes to using technology to help my students and myself achieve classroom, scholarly, creative, and professional goals. I'd like some help.
